JRS, The Rt. Hon. Adrienne Clarkson, Leena Manimekalai and John Greyson discussed Greyson’s award-winning short film “International Dawn Chorus Day” at The Ageless Film Festival in Toronto. The event was moderated by Kaveh Shahrooz and co-hosted by The Ageless International Film Festival, HotDocs, PEN Canada, Rainbow Railroad and the Centre for Free Expression.
“International Dawn Chorus Day” is about the deaths of two Egyptian activists: filmmaker Shady Habash, who was imprisoned over a music video mocking President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi (later dying of unknown causes in a jail outside of Cairo), and queer activist Sarah Hegazi, who was incarcerated and tortured for flying a rainbow flag at a Cairo concert in 2017.
